The Oakland Raiders have released veterans A.J. McCarron and Jordy Nelson.

Jordy Nelson's time in Oakland has come to an end.

During his National Football League career, McCarron has completed 87-of-136 passes for 928 yards with six touchdowns and two interceptions in 13 regular-season games.

"Normally, when you hand out a bonus for next year's season, there's a pretty good chance those guys are coming back", Gruden said December 28. I think as we continue to improve this football team around some of the core guys that are here, I think you can even see better and better days ahead. The Pittsburgh Steelers traded wide receiver Antonio Brown to the Oakland Raiders.

It's very possible that the Raiders told Nelson they were going.

That was part of the contract that McCarron signed with the Buffalo Bills in free agency a year ago.

Nelson's $3 million salary would've become guaranteed on Friday, and there was a $500,000 roster bonus, so they saved some cash and $3.5 million in salary-cap space.
