Rajkot police issued a ban on the game through March 30 due to their belief that PUBG Mobile causes violence and poor academic performance in youth.

"People have been booked but there is nothing like an arrest in it", Mr. Agrawal further told the media.

"As part of a special drive, police sub-inspector ND Damor arrested the six youths who were playing the game at tea stalls and fast-food joints outside a college on Kalavad road on Tuesday", said Rajkot taluka police inspector VS Vanzara to Indian Express.

Police in the western Indian state of Gujarat detained 10 teenagers for breaking a newly announced ban on playing videogame "PUBG", the forerunner of global smash "Fortnite", officials said on Thursday.

Other Gujarat cities that are enforcing a PUBG ban right now include Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, and Surat, according to International Business Times.

That's all well and good, but perhaps we should acknowledge the larger crime committed by the police and state, in failing to note that the Momo challenge is bogus, and that year after year, studies have no shown there's no evidence to prove a link between violent games and aggressive behavior. They were also asked to advise parents to keep an eye on children against the highly addictive game. The police commissioner appealed citizens to contact the nearest police station in case they came across anyone playing PUBG in Ahmedabad city limits.

PUBG Mobile is a raging success in India, raking in millions of players and revenue for the makers of the game. The push that made this ban notification was the recently revived Momo Challenge. "Keeping in mind public safety security and to maintain law and order, I hereby impose a ban on playing PUBG game/MOMO challenge", reads the notification, which was issued on directions from the Gujarat state government following a PUBG ban in Gujarat primary schools in February. They were taken into custody after they were found playing the PUBG game.
