There’s ‘no way’ Pelicans will trade Anthony Davis to Lakers

To make the New Orleans trade experiment worse is Marc J. Spears of ESPN remarking that "there's no way Anthony Davis is coming here, through the Pelicans", adding "They're just not going to do it". The 26-year-old can opt out of his contract following the 2019-20 season and become an unrestricted free agent.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been heavily tied to Anthony Davis this entire season; even more so when Davis' agent and friend of LeBron James, Rich Paul, publically made a trade demand to try and force the superstar to LA with LeBron. "They're just not gonna do it". "I've heard the same thing".

Los Angeles president of basketball operations Magic Johnson said the Pelicans didn't negotiate in good faith.

The Lakers tried to complete a deal for Davis ahead of the trade deadline in early February, reportedly offering their young core of Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball and several others, as well as multiple first-round picks.

If these reports are true, and there is absolutely no chance of Anthony Davis becoming a Laker, here are three offseason strategies the Lakers' front office can employ.

Interestingly enough, Spears and Wilbon also mentioned the Clippers could be in play for Davis, with Spears noting a source told him there's "another team in Los Angeles that you've got to worry about".
