When Apex Legends released on 4th of February as a free to play, Battle Royale take on Titanfall, the hype it generated caused almost 10 million users to play the game within 72 hours of its launch, and force popular streamers to cash in on its meteoric rise.

Blevins is most widely known for his meteoric rise as an influencer along with the huge success of Fortnite, which he streams regularly. He first tweeted about the free-to-play game to his 13 million followers before streaming it on Twitch.

At the time, though, I was not aware of exactly how much EA was paying streamers like Ninja and Dr. Disrespect.

"We really wanted to create a day where you couldn't escape Apex if you cared about games and we wanted it to feel like an event was happening everywhere around the globe on that day", said Apex Legends lead producer Drew McCoy.
