How to watch historic Falcon Heavy launch live online tomorrow

In Falcon Heavy's first flight, both side boosters made successful landings but the central core booster splashed down in the ocean instead of being caught by SpaceX's drone ship.

SpaceX's Falcon Heavy launch, which has been delayed twice this week, is set for Wednesday evening in Cape Canaveral, Fla., another potential milestone for the company and the US commercial space industry.

"Arabsat-6A is a high-capacity telecommunications satellite that will deliver television, radio, Internet and mobile communications to customers in the Middle East, Africa, and Europe", SpaceX representatives wrote in a mission description.

Tonight's 117-minute-long launch window opens at 6:35 p.m. and with clear skies, the launch should be visible across much of Florida. That launch was the biggest rocket since the Saturn era ended in the 1970s.

Falcon Heavy's actual payload tomorrow is the Saudi Arabian Arabsat-6A communications satellite, weighing a little over 13,000 pounds. Aside from being the last major source of data for the ultimate certification of Falcon Heavy for high-value military launches, the USAF hopes that STP-2 will be a critical step towards opening the doors of launch contract competitions to flight-proven rockets like Falcon 9 and - eventually - Blue Origin's New Glenn.

But in the 14 months since the large rocket's inaugural flight, Falcon Heavy has had a remarkable effect on the nation's space policy.

The Falcon Heavy launch has already been postponed once, as it was originally supposed to take off on Sunday. The 45th Weather Squadron projects an 80 percent chance of good weather at launch time tonight, now scheduled for 6:36 PM EDT.

The rocket's launch was watched by millions around the globe, thanks in no small part to SpaceX founder Elon Musk deciding to use a cherry red sports vehicle as the payload cargo.

Falcon Heavy's three Falcon 9 components are clearly on display in the hangar before its Wednesday launch. The SpaceX launch window is expected to last around two hours. The center core missed its drone ship landing when two of three engines ran out of igniter fluid.

The test flight sent into space a Roadster built by another one of Elon Musk's companies, Tesla, with a mannequin wearing a spacesuit that he named Starman. The true test will happen tomorrow, if Falcon Heavy cannot only launch but also land its three boosters.

More recently, the Falcon Heavy rocket has entered the conversation for human exploration.
