Now, Redmi President asked the users on Weibo asking if the company should launch a smartphone featuring a 32 MP front-facing camera sensor. Also, the device is believed to have a 48MP primary camera, as well as a second depth lens destined for portraits in a triple camera array.

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi on Wednesday said it had successfully surpassed over 1 million units of Redmi Note 7 series sale across the nation within a month of its launch. This hints that the company has already started working on a smartphone with 32 MP selfie snapper. Weibing's post only denies the presence of a pop-up selfie camera. This could be launched as the Redmi Y3, taking over from the Redmi Y2 that was launched past year.

But judging by the information made available so far, the upcoming Redmi flagship won't have a display notch or cutout, and won't make use of a pop-up camera.

In the recent few months, we have seen quite a lot of smartphones launch with a 32MP selfie camera like Huawei P30, Huawei P30 Lite, Huawei P30 Pro and Vivo V15 Pro. However, if Xiaomi is to upgrade the phone with a new design, an impressive 32MP selfie snapper, and improved internals, we can expect Redmi Y3 to launch under Rs. 15,000. It also comes in a 4GB RAM/64GB variant priced at ₹11,999. Usually, Redmi Y series smartphones are selfie-centric devices and are mainly designed for the youth. All four smartphones offer Samsung's GD1 sensor.

Recently, the Redmi Y3 was also spotted on Wi-Fi Alliance portal running Android Pie-based MIUI 10.

Other details of the Redmi Y3 including the expected launch date remain unknown at this point of time.
