Rain and storms increase late this afternoon and evening as a dynamic system pushes across the South. Storms will be capable of producing damaging wind, large hail, tornadoes and flash flooding. Two children, ages 3 and 8, were killed when a tree fell on their vehicle as storms hammered east Texas.

In East Texas, authorities say two children were killed when high winds toppled a tree onto the back of the family auto while it was in motion.

National Weather Service meteorologist John Moore said a possible twister touched down Saturday in the Vicksburg, Miss., area. The children, ages 8 and 3, were dead at the scene, although both parents, who were in the front seat, escaped injury, he said.

"It looks like a storm came up through Louisiana and into MS and exploded in Monroe County", Monroe County Sheriff Cecil Cantrell told CNN.

A preliminary damage survey showed an EF-3 tornado, with winds up to 140 miles per hour, touched down in Robertson County, the NWS in Fort Worth said.
