William Hill US will make their single biggest payout on a golf bet after the punter put $125,66 on Woods to win at Augusta, 11 years after his last major victory.

"I'm a little hoarse from yelling", a tearful Woods said before the green jacket presentation in the Butler Cabin. All of a sudden I had the lead. I know that I made a few mistakes the last couple tournaments, but it just felt like it was there.

"To have my kids there - it's come full circle".

Woods, 43, overturned a two-shot deficit heading into the final round at Augusta National as he carded a two under score of 70 to finish on 13 under par overall - one shot ahead of the chasing trio of Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson and Xander Schauffele.

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who won a record sixth Super Bowl this past February, joked that he was plotting how to match the number of major golf championships Woods has now accumulated.

"My mum was here and she was here in 97 as well".

Professionally, it's an impressive comeback for sure after Woods' was forced to undergo surgeries for back and leg injuries that almost ended his career.

It marks his 15th major title and his first since 2008.

All those moments built to Sunday, when Woods was once again his old familiar dominating self.

Paired together in the final round of last year's The Open Championship, won by the Italian at Carnoustie, Molinari and Woods found themselves in the last group again battling for a major title.

Clinging to a two-stroke lead through 11 holes following a scrappy first nine Molinari was concerned his 9-iron at the 155-yard 12 hole could get caught by a gust.

The 43-year-old has capped off a remarkable return to golf's top echelons following persistent back problems and troubles in his personal life, which almost led him to an early retirement from the sport he adores. The two double bogeys ended his Green Jacket bid.
