"We need to expand what those policy conversations are", said Ocasio-Cortez, "because as just a citizen of this country, I would be very concerned if Trump started really pursuing more and more and more increasingly unsafe policies and everyone just standing aside and say this is normal, this is just like before".

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., says there are health risks associated with Facebook and that's why she's chose to stop using her account.

The freshman Congresswoman added she hopes to be in a supporting role for this issue because she thinks "we need to expand what those policy conversations are".

The US supplies Israel with $3.8 billion annually in military aid, under a deal signed by former president Barack Obama.

It was not immediately clear whether this was an empty campaign promise aimed at turning out his right-wing base, or the introduction of a policy he would genuinely pursue.

"We are pleased Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recognizes she is NOT a leader on Israel in Congress", the group said in a statement.

McCollum, a Democratic congresswoman from Minnesota, has a history of anti-Israel actions, including introducing a bill in November 2017 that would have mandated the USA government to certify that its military funding to Israel not be used for "Israeli military's ongoing detention and mistreatment of Palestinian children".

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez listens during the House Oversight and Reform Committee hearing in the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., February 27, 2019.

"We recommend she engage with Dem leaders Eliot Engel, Nita Lowey, & Congressman Ted Deutch before contemplating the future of U.S. military aid to Israel".

The JDCA emphasized US-Israel ties "must supersede politics".

Ocasio-Cortez has criticized Israeli policy in the past, particularly its control of the West Bank, and has advocated for the creation of a Palestinian state.

She said in the interview that her team still has accounts on Facebook. "I am a proponent of a two-state solution". "We have the grounds to do it", she said. "But I also know that there have been people leading on this for a long time, like Congresswoman [Betty] McCollum".

Both characters mentioned by Ocasio-Cortez are part of a dynastic lineage that was overthrown in the years prior to the events of the show.
