Samsung Electronics yesterday released the Galaxy S10 5G, the world's first available smartphone with built-in fifth-generation communications technology, as South Korea seeks to build a lead in the transformative system.

According to a report from Bloomberg, the phone will be available to pre-order in the USA from April 18, with a tentative release date of May 16 - if that's correct, it'll actually launch after the Samsung Galaxy Fold.

The user further mentioned that a DSLR can capture much better images of a fingerprint, which can be used to create such 3D printed slides that can fool the Samsung Galaxy S10's in-display fingerprint sensor. No information about pricing options emerged though, so we're still in the dark on that one. "Electronic companies like Samsung, the factories, production lines, contents that goes inside 5G phones ... they believe everything that is constituting the IT ecosystem will meet a new era under 5G network".

We still have no idea how much the Galaxy S10 5G will cost in the United States, but it'll probably be more expensive than all the other S10 phones.

The phone from technology giant Samsung is the 5G-capable version of the Galaxy S10 series, which was introduced in March.

The Galaxy S10 5G has the same hardware configuration as the regular Galaxy S10 flagship but adds 5G support into the mix.

Hours later U.S. giant Verizon began commercial services in Chicago and Minneapolis, after rival AT&T made a 5G-based system available to selected users in parts of 12 cities in December.

Verizon's Ultra Wideband network customers must use Motorola's Z3 and a "5G Moto Mod", an accessory that allows Z3 to connect to the 5G Ultra Wideband network.

If you're lucky enough to live in one of the areas covered by Verizon's 5G network, your compatible smartphone will be able to reach data speeds of up to 1Gbps, no less than ten times faster than the current 4G LTE speeds.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G was launched to tie into the release of South Korea's 5G network, one of the first consumer 5G grids in the world ahead of similar networks launching in various other countries.
