Another report said that lenders to Jet Airways may not consider an initial bid from Goyal to regain control of the troubled airline as he did not fulfil certain conditions set by them while submitting the EoI on Friday.

As many as 1,000 pilots of the union, National Aviator's Guild (NAG), will meet on Monday morning to decide on whether the pilots will fly or not, due to non-payment of salaries. Not only the airline has been failed to pay full salaries to its employees for months but also defaulted on several payments.

"Jet Airways has now suspended operations to the SAARC and Asean destinations, as well as to Toronto and Paris from Chennai and back", Jet Airways said in a statement. Jet Airways pilots demonstrated in Mumbai on Monday, saying they had not received a salary in four months.

Around the same time, the company announced it was low on working capital.

The Monday meeting with lenders is reportedly expected to take a final decision on the quantum of funds to be infused immediately to avert a possible shut down. The airline's staff was last paid for December 2018.

According to officials aware of discussions, the meeting was called after civil aviation minister Suresh Prabhu asked secretary of the department Pradeep Singh Kharola to review issues concerning Jet Airways, news agency PTI reported.

An Open House will be called shortly as per the availability of the venue and the committee members, its communication added.

Founded in 1974, Jet Air was a powerful General Sales Agents (GSA) that represented as many as 17 global airlines before it spawned Jet Airways in the 1990s.

At present, Jet is operating only 7 aircraft for domestic operations due to the grounding of over 80 per cent of its fleet by lessors owing to non-payment of dues. India's ailing Jet Airways has drastically reduced operations amid talks with investors to purchase a controlling stake in the airline and help it reduce its mounting debt.

According to sources, the airline has also stopped accepting bookings for its Mumbai-Paris flight until June 10 and closed reservations for its Mumbai-London, Mumbai-Amsterdam-Mumbai and Bangalore-Amsterdam flights, up to April 18.

Late last month Jet Airways chairman Naresh Goyal announced he would step down from the board of the Indian airline as well as reducing his stake in the carrier.
