Measles cases are skyrocketing globally: World Health Organization details growing crisis

On Wednesday, the ministry said it would keep child healthcare centers open throughout the Passover holiday next week, when children are on vacation, in a coordinated drive to step up vaccination rates. One dose of the MMR vaccine is 93% effective against measles, according to the CDC.

There have been 555 cases this year across 20 states.

Measles is a viral infection that is easily spread to unvaccinated people through coughing, sneezing and secretions from the mouth, according to state health officials.
