Aston Martin loves a James Bond special, which is fitting given 007 tends to choose the marque's grand tourers as his main form of transport. Today, thanks to a collaboration with the company behind the James Bond movies EON Productions, Aston Martin announced that 50 special edition DBS Superleggeras - in the same olive green color as the original - will be available to mark the occasion.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of James Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service, 50 On Her Majesty's Secret Service DBS Superleggera special edition cars will be sold.

The special-edition vehicle is a result of Aston's partnership with EON Productions, the studio that produces Bond films, along with Metro Goldwyn Meyer Studios.

"This new DBS Superleggera will be an extremely distinguished 'brute in a suit, ' created to capture the essence of the iconic DBS from the 1969 film".

The 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 engine is set low and as far back in the chassis as possible to optimise the centre-of-gravity and weight distribution, this high-performance engine develops 725PS at 6500rpm and 900Nm from 1800-5000rpm. The special edition cars are based on the standard Aston Martin DBS Superleggera. The new, special-edition DBS is styled to recreate the look of the 1969 Aston Martin DBS that Bond (played by George Lazenby) drove in On Her Majesty's Secret Service To that end, it's painted olive green on the outside, with chrome horizontal grille strakes.

James Bond has driven quite a few cars over the decades serving Her Majesty's Secret Service, but none are as synonymous with 007 as Aston Martin.

Its interior is trimmed in black leather and grey Alcantara, with red accents including red felt lining in the glovebox - a nod to the film car's glovebox which holds a telescopic-sight rifle.

The case has space inside for two bottles of champagne and four champagne flutes.

Each of the 50 On Her Majesty's Secret Service DBS Superleggera special editions will retail at £300,007, with first deliveries to customers commencing in Q4 2019. Performance should be the same as all other DBS Superleggera cars.
