Director Jeff Fowler revealed on his Twitter account that the upcoming video game movie is now scheduled to arrive on February 14, 2020, just over a three-month delay from its original release date of November 8, 2019.

Likewise, one of Sonic's originals creators voiced his concern via Twitter with some of the original images of the live-action version of Sonic, also praising fans for their reaction that spurred the redesign.

The news came via a tweet from director Jeff Fowler.

Sonic the Hedgehog may be built for speed, but his feature film debut is going to take the long way 'round into movie theaters. Shortly after the internet had its way with the original trailer, director Jeff Fowler announced that changes were coming - though that left some anxious that a bunch of VFX artists were about to work major overtime to change Sonic's look. And the criticism. The message is loud and clear... you aren't happy with the design and you want changes. In general, he looked just like a kid in a Sonic costume. Those of you of a romantic nature will note the new release date is St Valentine's Day. "Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the best he can be".

Are you happy to hear the movie seems to finally be receiving the care and attention Sonic deserves? Sonic the Hedgehog stars Jim Carrey, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Neal McDonough, Adam Pally, and the voice of Ben Schwartz as Sonic.

While that's all well and good, it still doesn't change the fact the rest of the trailer, with Jim Carrey in full-on over-the-top '90s Jim Carrey mode, looks, um, not great.
