Forty-eight Americans died in the Dominican Republic between 2016 and 2018, according to statistics available on the US Department of State website.

Arnold said a hotel doctor later checked on Wallace and determined on April 13 that he needed to go to the hospital. The deaths are now being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Blood pressure medications were found in the room, along with three medications, including an opioid and an anti-inflammatory, according to police and the attorney general. Investigators found "several pill bottles" of three medications, including the prescription opioid oxycodone, in the couple's room, the attorney general's office said. The FBI specifically is looking deeper into toxicology results, the statement said, and that the final assessment may take up to a month.

"We didn't find out until the next morning that he had passed, which is another weird thing", Tommy Tickenhoff, Wallace's son-in-law, told KTLA sister station KTXL in Sacramento on Monday.

The FBI is sending experts to the Bahia Principe hotels where the latter three stayed to conduct the investigation.

Each the Giant Bahia Principe La Romana and the Luxurious Bahia Principe Bouganville are bustle by Bahia Principe Hotels & Hotels, which is a subsidiary of the Spanish company Grupo Pinero.

A family spokesman told Fox News that she collapsed after having a drink from the minibar. Day also reportedly suffered cerebral edema.

Dominican police also are investigating the deaths of a Maryland couple found at another hotel in the same resort May 30.

They said that sooner than turning into sick, they noticed a original scent in their room, describing it as if someone "dumped paint all around the place apart". "To date, there are no indications of any correlation between these two unfortunate incidents".

'Out of respect for the family during this hard time, we do not have additional information to provide'. Schaupp-Werner's cause of death was the same as Holmes and Day.

But his niece said he fell ill nearly immediately after drinking a scotch from the minibar at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and was dead just three days later in April. Wallace was in DR to attend his stepson's wedding.

Another American died after drinking at the same Hard Rock Resort, his family told CBS. According to his niece Chloe Arnold, who spoke with Fox News, a minibar scotch could be the culprit.

One such violent act took place in January, when a DE woman, her husband and another couple stayed at the Majestic Elegance Punta Cana hotel.

Holmes posted Facebook photos of him and Day enjoying their time in open waters. He is still out there, a predator, waiting for his next victim.

"We have so many questions", Arnold said.

But while the statement corroborated some of Lawrence-Daley's details of the attack, it said that she appeared to only have "bruises on her face and had broken the nail of her little finger".

It is not clear if a second autopsy will be performed on Day and Holmes.
