Barbara Corcoran, businesswoman and "Shark Tank" investor, recently revealed that her brother mysteriously died at a resort in the Dominican Republic, making him the seventh tourist to die in the country under mysterious circumstances.

Corcoran told TMZ John was retired, but owned a successful roofing company in New Jersey. At the time, John was waiting for his girlfriend to arrive, the outlet said.

A heart attack was ruled as the cause of death, but Corcoran said she is not aware of an autopsy being performed.

John Corcoran was discovered dead by his hotel suite by his friend, NBC News reports. "Barbara would like to respect the privacy of his children and is not releasing any other information at this time".

The news of John's death comes in the wake of suspicious deaths of Americans in Dominican Republic hotels starting in June 2018.

The business mogul is shining the light on his death after it was revealed he is one of a string of tourist mystery deaths that have occurred in the country this year. It is not yet known which hotel he was staying in.

The FBI is doing toxicology analysis, NPR says.

The report noted that the "FBI's involvement has marked the first public indications that officials in the USA and the Dominican Republic have considered the possibility of something other than natural causes".

The deaths have baffled people around the world because, among other things, they involved tourists whose families and friends described them as relatively healthy, and exhibiting no signs of illness before they fell sick.

"My brother had an existing heart condition and we believe he died of natural causes", the "Shark Tank" star said in a statement on Instagram on Thursday.

A Maryland Couple, Edward Holmes, 63, and Cynthia Day, 49, died in their hotel room and the cause of their deaths was listed as respiratory failure and pulmonary edema, according to reports. Prior to their death, they had posted photos on social media saying they were enjoying their vacation.

According to the publication, since June 2018, six US tourists have been found dead in the country, two at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Punta Cana and four at the Bahia Principe resorts. One of the more unsettling theories is poisoning, due to the fact that two other couples who stayed at Bahia Principe resorts claimed to have gotten violently ill during their visit.
