Keanu will be a terrifically expensive actor and likeness to acquire for the game so, if it wasn't obvious already, know that CD Projekt are serious about Cyberpunk 2077. In an interview on E3 Coliseum (spotted by VG247) with Geoff Keighley, CD Projekt Red CEO Marcin Iwinski, said Reeves is second only to your character V in terms of voice lines. "We have put a lot of thought into this", explained Tomaszkiewicz. You create a relationship with this character a lot as you progress through the game. We had a lot of back and forth and chose to approach him.

Keanu Reeves was approached about a year ago for the role. There was a meeting arranged. After some negotiations, he finally read the script and was immediately convinced he wants to be a part of the game.

During GameSpot's preview, Lead Quest Designer Pawel Sasko that while your interactions with the various inhabitants of the game won't always matter, but that there are story moments when the player's actions will have lasting consequences throughout the game. We found out Johnny Silverhand is "this digitalized personality that is present in your head that you can see but nobody else can see in the world". The stylised dystopian game that includes Keanu Reeves as an NPC, had fans pumped during the entire presentation.

Cyberpunk 2077 on the other hand, one of the most anticipated video games of the year, comes out on 16th April 2020, a bit of a shorter wait although months can turn into years when we're waiting for this desperately. "We were actually surprised because he picked up on that character fairly quickly, and he even started suggesting, 'Okay, maybe I could act like this or that.' And we saw that he was getting into the role, really getting into it".

The developers needed "a strong actor that would be able to play this role" from nearly the beginning of the game to the end, Sasko said.
