We previously saw game footage from the magical world's answer to Pokémon GO, but this latest look has a lot more flair, with a trailer that also doubles as a great pitch for a movie we would 100 percent watch. The digital garrisons host wizarding challenges-real-time multiplayer battles against risky foes like Death Eaters and Dementors.

"The worldwide launch of Harry Potter: Wizards Unite begins this Friday, June 21!" an official launch message from Niantic reads.

Niantic's next location-based mobile AR game, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, finally has a release date.

Players will take on the role of a new wizard recruit working with the Statute of Secrecy Task Force - the group responsible for solving the mystery of the Calamity, a major event that scattered magical artifacts and creatures all over the world. Users will interact with the real world around them through augmented reality.

If you don't live in the U.S. or the United Kingdom, you may not want to get your hopes up for the game to be available on your local App Store or Google Play this weekend, as those are the only two regions confirmed to be getting Wizards Unite this Friday.

Hunting magical creates can take a lot out of you: So don't forget to replenish your Spell Energy by collecting food and drinks at inns, hidden among global muggle venues.

Friday will be the day that the game goes live on Android and iOS, having seen a few beta tests around the world.

Speaking about the new launch this week, Madhavi Marigold Muppala, a Product Manager at Niantic who works across multiple teams including design, engineering, and marketing, commented on the new launch: "It's what everyone imagines when you read the Harry Potter books".
