Donald Trump rips Paul Ryan on Twitter

Last year, Paul Ryan's fundraising team raised a mere $15 million through two quarters. He wasn't a leader. He was no leader...he wouldn't get subpoenas. when Nancy Pelosi hands them out like they're cookies. All the time. We helped him make much better decisions, which were contrary to kind of what his knee-jerk reaction was. He was unable to raise money, he lost control of the house.

"The only success Paul Ryan had was the time he was with me", Trump said, pointing to the GOP's tax cut bill.

And most strangely of all, Trump insinuated Ryan is only criticizing him because he is accepting secret bribes. 'But for Paul Ryan to be complaining is pretty incredible.

Pushing back, Trump told reporters that one day when he was making a speech in Wisconsin, he invited Ryan, who was booed. "For him to be going out and opening his mouth is pretty incredible". Who knows? Maybe he gets paid for that'.

The president continued late into the night accusing Mr. Ryan of all manner of failure.

Romney tweeted that the fault for the 2012 election loss to President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden "is mine alone", that Ryan was a "tireless campaigner, fundraiser, and conservative champion".

The volley of criticism came after excerpts of a forthcoming book were published in which the ex-congressman described his frustration in dealing with the Trump administration.

President Trump lashed out against former House Speaker Paul Ryan on Thursday, calling him a "failed" vice presidential candidate whose record in the lower chamber was "atrocious".

'He had the Majority & blew it away with his poor leadership and bad timing. "I told myself I gotta have a relationship with this guy to help him get his mind right", Ryan tells Alberta.

In response, the president tweet-blasted Ryan over his past leadership and vice-presidential run on the failed 2012 Mitt Romney ticket. Employing his favorite method of turning the insult around on the insulter, Trump claimed it was Ryan who had no knowledge of the government: "Frankly, he was a baby, he didn't know what he was doing". "In return they would stand behind him unwaveringly". "He promised me the Wall, & failed (happening anyway!)", he wrote.

Trump: "Paul Ryan was not a talent". After the release of the Access Hollywood tape which depicted Trump bragging about sexual assault, Ryan refused any public appearances with then-candidate Trump. When he announced his retirement in 2018, he said he doubted any political run was in his future.

Speaker Paul Ryan is a truly good man, and while he will not be seeking re-election, he will leave a legacy of achievement that nobody can question.

Trump's allies scoff at those who struggle to find their way in today's Republican Party, saying the White House has an open door and welcomes wide-ranging views.
