Allie Long, who had attended the ESPY Awards with her team on Wednesday night, tweeted on Thursday that someone also swiped an undisclosed amount of cash from her hotel room while she was away. "Do you make copies? I would love a new one", she tweeted on Thursday. While the LAPD did not name the victims of the burglary, the department's investigation confirmed that a woman and her husband had left the door to their hotel room unlocked to visit another room on Wednesday, July 10 at around 9:00 p.m.

No suspect had been identified and no arrests had have been made, the newspaper reported.

Long has been celebrating all week following the United States Women's National Team's fourth World Cup trophy and had just returned from New York City where the team had been celebrated with a ticker-tape-parade down the "Canyon of Heroes". The team had received the key to NY earlier on Wednesday following their World Cup win.

De Blasio responded Friday morning to the Northport, Long Island, native with words of encouragement and a promise of a spare. "Don't worry about the key".

At the ESPYs, the team was presented with the "Best Team" award. The mayor, not exactly a strong proponent of accountability, chose to give the soccer player a new key.

LAPD public information lieutenant Chris Ramirez confirmed to USA Today that the department is now investigating the robbery, which occurred while Long was staying at the Ritz Carlton hotel in downtown Los Angeles. "We got you covered", the mayor's response read. She posted a photo to Instagram with her husband captioned, "Take my ring but not my mans (or medal Thank God)".
