Barry's contract with English side West Bromwich Albion expired last month and he had drawn interest from Europe's biggest clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Juventus.

The England wonderkid was offered a three-year contract at the Baggies, but turned down the deal in favour of a move elsewhere.

Barcelona have signed highly rated England youth global Louie Barry on a three-year contract.

British media had reported that Barry had undergone a medical with French Ligue 1 champions PSG before FC Barcelona stepped in at the last minute. "Next season he will be part of Barca's Under-19 squad", Barcelona said in a statement yesterday.

Although West Brom will understandably be disappointed and frustrated to lose one of their academy graduates who potentially has a huge future they will also see this as an opportunity in which Barry has been unable to turn down.

The teenager won the Golden Boot with three goals as he helped England Under-16s win Val-de-Marne, a UEFA tournament, last year.

Barry first rose to prominence a year ago when he scored 10 goals in five games for England Under-15s at a tournament in Italy.
